Appleton Local Achieves National Recognition with Kleenex Collaboration
Appleton, Wisconsin - February 9, 2024
Sarah McGinnis (formerly McMahon), a proud resident of Appleton, Wisconsin, and alumna of Xavier High School, Fox Valley Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has achieved national recognition through her collaboration with the Kleenex brand. McGinnis, who began her journey in graphic design in high school, recently unveiled her artwork on two Kleenex cartons, now available nationwide at Target stores.
Following her graduation from Peck School of the Arts at UW-Milwaukee, McGinnis returned to her roots in Appleton to join a design agency, where she quickly rose through the ranks from junior designer to art director. Her tenure at the agency included working closely with Kimberly-Clark, where she contributed to the development of on-product graphics for a range of consumer goods brands.
In 2022, McGinnis pitched a collaboration between Kleenex and Self-Care is for Everyone, an e-commerce collective dedicated to normalizing conversations around mental health and emphasizing the importance of self-care. Her pivotal role in the successful 2023 collaboration led to her selection as a featured artist for the 2024 collection.
McGinnis's artwork, adorned with positive messages of self-care, is now prominently featured on Kleenex cartons available nationwide at Target stores. This achievement not only marks a significant milestone in McGinnis's professional journey but also highlights the innovative and collaborative spirit fostered in her hometown of Appleton and at her various alma maters.
"I am thrilled about this milestone and the impact it will have on my journey," said McGinnis. "It's an honor to share this success with my community and inspire others to pursue their creative passions, while advocating for such an important cause as mental health awareness and normalization."
